We took proactive steps to reduce the risk of spreading Covid-19 and went further than current Government guidance. We know that Covid has had a disproportionate impact on the disabled community, and we are not complacent about this.
Our Covid-19 measures
- We instructed anyone testing positive for Covid-19 or with symptoms of a respiratory infection to stay at home.
- We made the event hybrid, so that anyone with concerns about Covid could enjoy the event from home through our livestream, which over 400 people did.
- We encouraged attendees to wear a face covering, if they felt comfortable. But we know that a disproportionate number of disabled people are unable to wear a face covering or are exempt.
- We chose Twickenham for the ceremony due to its large open space and kept attendees well below the room capacity to help ensure there was space for distancing.
- We had hand sanitising stations in every room and in bathrooms throughout the venue.
- We asked all guests to let us know of any access requirements or any support needs. We talked through tailored options to support people to attend physically or virtually.
- We are confident the Awards was an accessible event, and if anyone presenting or accepting an Award wanted virtual or pre-recorded access this would have been provided.
