Job description

Role purpose

We have aligned our Technology Services team with our Business Intelligence and Digital Channel teams. The post holder will have a key role in leading our technical and digital strategies, overseeing technical operations, maintaining a suitable and efficient infrastructure and overseeing technical operations for our corporate and retail areas.  

Main responsibilities

  • Develop and carry out a digital and technology strategy that helps Scope achieve its goals.
  • Encourage the use of tools that Scope already has to improve how we work.
  • Be a good leader and create a supportive and inclusive team culture.
  • Work with IT service delivery partners and make sure they meet our standards.
  • Manage the infrastructure in our retail shops and assign the appropriate support to enable efficient operations
  • Develop technology strategies to help Scope achieve its goals.
  • Make sure our technology is up to date and safe.
  • Be responsible for cyber security across the charity.
  • Work with the GDPR/IT security team to manage Scope’s information security policies and standards.
  • Make sure we have good plans in case of disasters or emergencies.
  • Be able to update and maintain our business continuity plans.
  • Be the main point of contact for major technology incidents and outages.
  • Lead technology-based change and improvement programmes.
  • Drive innovation and change to improve standards and services.
  • Oversee the design and implementation of technology solutions, products, and services.
  • Manage relationships with suppliers and negotiate contracts.
  • Stay up to date with new technologies and industry trends.
  • Work with other teams to help shape and inform design and standards in future technology products and services.
  • Provide technology expertise to programs and projects within Scope.
  • Develop credibility within the charity to influence change at senior management levels.
  • Contribute to the design and delivery of a program that will prioritise innovations and improvements that make the most difference for disabled people.
  • Outline and promote the mission of Scope to partners and suppliers.

Leadership and Management

  • Manage a team to deliver programmes and projects.
  • Plan the use of technical and subject matter expertise staff, as well as project and programme resources.
  • Recruit temporary programme and project resources.
  • Work with temporary staff to make sure they are performing well in their roles.
  • Work with partners to scope, commission, and monitor delivery of specific programs of work.
  • Commission consultants or agency resources to carry out technical work where needed.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to master's or post-graduate level in IT, digital, or related field or have equivalent experience.
  • Have a qualification in Managing Successful Programmes or other project methodology.
  • Have a qualification in information systems security or governance of enterprise IT.
  • Have evidence of continuing professional development relevant to the role.

Desirable

  • Leadership/Team Management qualification
  • Microsoft Certified technical qualifications
  • Membership of relevant professional body (e.g. BCS)

Experience

Essential

  • Have experience in a senior leadership position.
  • Have experience in IT operational management and/or working with IT service delivery partners.
  • Have experience leading large-scale digital change and transformation projects.
  • Have experience managing large budgets, people, and contracts.
  • Have experience managing infrastructure services to UK cyber security standards.
  • Have experience in managing a Cloud strategy.
  • Have experience in managing a Microsoft ecosystem.
  • Have experience managing business continuity and major IT incident response and recovery.
  • Have excellent people management and leadership skills.
  • Have experience leading large-scale infrastructure refresh or improvement programs.
  • Have experience managing IT service management contracts and technology suppliers.
  • Have experience managing a technology services function/product management.
  • Understand the value of diversity in a team, department, and organisation and promote it.
