Job description

Role purpose

The Retail Corporate Partnerships and Business Development Manager is responsible for both account management and new business. It will manage relationships with Retail’s current corporate retail partners. As well cultivate and secure new relationships with corporate partners that can deliver significant and sustainable stock donations to support Scope’s Retail Strategy.

Main responsibilities  

  • Act as a dedicated Account Manager to our Retail corporate partners, ensuring outstanding relationship management with a continued focus on growth and development of partnership.
  • Support the generation of new corporate partnerships through research and proposal development. Ensuring alignment between Scope’s goals and partners’ social responsibility commitments.
  • Collaborate closely with Scope’s Corporate Partnership team to join up and support the development of successful strategic partnerships of longevity and purpose (more than ‘just donate’ partnerships).
  • Produce quarterly impact reports for current partners. Plus, any other reports as required by partners.
  • Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders, key contacts, and strategic leaders within your corporate partner portfolio.
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of Scope’s goals, campaigns and fundraising initiatives to engage partners, tapping into key moments in time and audiences.
  • Implement effective and efficient systems and processes to professionally manage all partnerships to an exceptional standard.
  • Pro-actively update records on Scope’s CRM system (Dynamics 365).

Person specification

Knowledge and experience

Essential

  • Experience in account management, preferably within a retail, charity, or corporate environment. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple accounts and relationships effectively.
  • Experience of working with an organisational CRM system
  • Knowledge of the charity sector, retail industry, and corporate networks to identify trends, opportunities, and potential challenges.
  • Awareness of sustainability trends and practices, as many companies donate goods to reduce waste or as part of their environmental initiatives.

Desirable

  • Experience of working in the Retail sector
  • Understanding of the social model of disability.
  • Knowledge and understanding of sustainable fashion, corporate social responsibility and / or environmental, social and governance regulations and textile recycling.
  • Familiarity with UK regulations and compliance issues related to charitable donations, including tax implications for donors, Gift Aid, and the Charities Act.

  • Strong relationship building/ account management skills, including listening, questioning, building rapport and understanding the needs and values of individuals and organisations.
  • Excellent written communication skills with the ability to produce clear and impactful communications and reports.
  • Strong networking skills to establish new contacts, attend industry events, and continuously expand the charity’s base of retail corporate partners.

  • Able to use Microsoft Office effectively, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams. 
  • Able to work positively and collaboratively with internal and external individuals and teams.
  • Skilled at – or willing to learn - using LinkedIn to research companies to build and nurture relationships.
