Today the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rishi Sunak, delivered his inaugural budget for 2020. Below is Scope's comment on what it means for disabled people.
Mark Hodgkinson, Chief Executive at disability equality charity, Scope, said:
"This was a Budget aimed at levelling-up the country, but this needs to include disabled people.
"It shouldn't take a global health crisis for the Government to wake up to the crucial need for a modern, flexible approach to the Statutory Sick Pay system and welfare assessments.
"Nobody should feel stuck needing to work while unwell whatever the reason.
"The Government must permanently establish a modern sick pay system for all."
